What the twelve houses are for
Counting starts at the lagna and moves sign by sign. The 1st house is you: body, manner, the way a room meets you. The 2nd is family, speech and what the household holds. The 3rd is siblings, courage and short journeys. The 4th is home, the mother and peace of mind. The 5th is children, study and what you create. The 6th is daily work, debts and the habits that keep you well. None of these houses diagnoses an illness or names a bank balance.
The 7th is marriage and partners of every kind, including a business partner. The 8th is what is shared and what changes suddenly, including the partner's resources. The 9th is teachers, long journeys and the luck people call bhagya. The 10th is karma in the sense of work the world can see. The 11th is gains and the friends who open doors. The 12th is rest, foreign places and what you spend or release. A kundli reading walks these twelve rooms. It does not collapse them into one lucky or unlucky label.
Lagna, rashi and nakshatra are three different things
The lagna is the sign on the eastern horizon at the minute you were born. It changes about every two hours, which is why a birth time (janam ka samay) from a hospital clock matters. Your rashi is the Moon's sign, and it changes about every two and a half days. Guna milan and the daily rashifal use the rashi, not the magazine sun sign (surya rashi). The nakshatra is the Moon's star, one of twenty-seven, and it sets the Vimshottari dasha.
If you do not know the time, you can still learn a lot from the date: often the moon sign (chandra rashi), and always a name-based guna milan. How to use the dasha timeline
Vimshottari is a 120-year cycle of nine planetary periods, the mahadashas. The Moon's nakshatra decides which period was running at birth, and how much of it was left. People ask for marriage or a job change inside the periods of the 7th lord, Venus, or the planet sitting in the 7th. That is a window, not a date circled on a calendar.
Read the timeline beside the houses, not instead of them. A Venus period does not mean a wedding if the 7th house is ignored, and a Saturn period is not automatically a bad year. When the free chart is not enough, the written kundli report and Tara both start from these same calculated facts. They do not invent a second sky.
What do I need for a free kundli (muft janam kundli)?
Your date of birth (janam tarikh), time of birth and place of birth. The time sets your lagna, so the closer it is to the real time, the better your chart.

How accurate is kundali?
A kundli is as accurate as the birth time (janam ka samay), date and place you enter, and as the ayanamsa used to calculate it. KismatAstro uses Lahiri, the ayanamsa most Indian panchangs follow. Planet positions are astronomy. What an astrologer then says about marriage or career is interpretation. A wrong birth time (janam ka samay) moves the lagna, and the houses move with it.
Can kundli be wrong?
Yes. The usual reasons are a birth time (janam ka samay) that is off by even twenty minutes, a city that is not the real birthplace, or a clock that was not set to the right time zone. Software can also differ by a fraction of a degree near a rashi boundary. If two charts disagree, check the birth record before you argue about the reading.
Does kundli change after marriage?
No. The janam kundli is a map of the sky at your birth, and that moment does not change when you marry. What changes is the question you ask. After marriage, astrologers read the same chart together with your spouse's chart, and they watch the dasha you are running. The houses stay where they were.
How many houses in kundli?
A kundli has twelve houses, called bhavas. Counting starts from the lagna, the sign rising in the east at birth. The 1st is the self, the 7th is marriage, the 10th is work, and the 2nd and 11th are the houses tradition links with family resources and gains. Each house is one whole rashi in the equal-house style used here.
Can kundali predict career?
Tradition reads career themes from the 10th house, its lord, the Sun and Saturn, and the dasha you are running. That can suggest a kind of work and a period when effort tends to show. It cannot name an employer, a salary or a job offer. Treat it as a way to think about timing, not as a hiring decision.
How kundli is made?
You need the date, the clock time and the city of birth. The chart finds the lagna from the local sky, then places the nine grahas in rashis using Lahiri ayanamsa. Houses are counted from the lagna. How to match kundli without birth time (janam ka samay)?
Use kundli matching by name (naam se kundli milan), which scores Ashtakoota from the names rather than from two birth charts. If you have the birth date (janam tarikh) but not the time, you can often still see the moon sign, unless the Moon changed rashi that day. Manglik and lagna need a time. For a family that only wants guna milan, the name tool is the honest fallback.
