A look at the day's five traditional elements, with sunrise and sunset for your city.
The five limbs, in the order a panchang is actually read
Vaar is the weekday, and it is the only limb that does not depend on the Moon's degree. Tithi is the Moon's elongation from the Sun, in steps of 12 degrees, named inside Shukla or Krishna paksha. Nakshatra is the Moon's star. Yoga adds the Sun's and Moon's sidereal longitudes. Karana is half a tithi. KismatAstro samples them at local sunrise for the city you choose, which is the classical way a panchang day is labelled.
A tithi that starts after sunrise does not rename the morning. If you look up 20 November 2026 for Delhi, sunrise still falls in Shukla Dashami, while Shukla Ekadashi begins later that morning on this ephemeris. Festival lists can still call that date Dev Uthani Ekadashi, because the vrata follows the tithi, not only the sunrise label. When a festival date on this site is cited, it is cited from Drik Panchang (New Delhi). The sunrise row is the engine.
What this page is not
It is not a wedding calendar and not a Rahu Kaal table for every errand. Abhijit, the short noon window, lives on the muhurat page. Vivah dates for 2026 and 2027 are the Drik Panchang lists on the marriage pages, not a row you can infer from today's tithi alone. Daily rashifal is the Moon's sign for the twelve rashis, on rashifal.
City matters. Sunrise in Delhi and sunrise in Kochi are not the same minute, and a tithi that ends near dawn can take different names. If you are away from India, still pick the city whose clock you are following, and remember the times on this page are shown in IST. The five rows on this page are the whole method: vaar, tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana, sampled at sunrise.
Which muhurat is good today?
For an ordinary daytime start, families often use Abhijit muhurat, a short window around local solar noon worked from sunrise and sunset. It is not a wedding muhurat and not a property muhurat. KismatAstro calculates Abhijit for the city and date you choose on the muhurat page. A wedding still needs the vivah list and a purohit.
Aaj ka muhurat kya hai?
Aaj ka saadharan din-ka muhurat Abhijit hota hai, jo local sunrise aur sunset ke beech dopahar ke aas-paas padta hai. Shehar badalne se samay badalta hai. Vivah, griha pravesh ya vastra kharidne ka muhurat alag niyam se banta hai. Delhi ya apne shehar ka Abhijit muhurat page par dekhein. Shaadi ki date ke liye vivah muhurat ki suchi alag hai.
What is panchang?
Panchang means five limbs: tithi, vaar, nakshatra, yoga and karana. Together they describe the Moon and the Sun for a place and a date. Indian almanacs also print sunrise, sunset and Rahu Kaal beside them. KismatAstro's panchang page calculates those five limbs at local sunrise for the city you pick, using the built-in Lahiri ephemeris.
Which panchang is most accurate?
No public panchang is perfect at every rashi boundary, because ayanamsa and the exact moon theory differ by small amounts. For Indian festival names and wedding lists, Drik Panchang (New Delhi) is the reference this site cites. For a personal sunrise tithi, use your own city. If two almanacs disagree by a tithi near a changeover, the Moon was close to a boundary. Check the end time, not only the name.
How to read panchang?
Start with the place and the date. Read vaar, the weekday, then tithi and paksha, then the nakshatra at sunrise. Yoga and karana are the other two limbs. Note sunrise and sunset, because muhurat windows hang off them. A tithi that changes just after sunrise still gives its sunrise name to that panchang day. That is why a festival date and a sunrise label sometimes need a second look.
