Abhijit is a noon window, not a wedding date
Abhijit muhurat is the middle fifteenth of the time between sunrise and sunset. It moves when the city moves, and it moves with the season because the day gets longer or shorter. People use it for an ordinary start: a meeting, a small purchase, setting out. It does not replace a vivah muhurat, a griha pravesh muhurat or a festival puja lagna.
Wedding dates on KismatAstro are a separate list. Vivah muhurat 2026 and vivah muhurat 2027 follow Drik Panchang for New Delhi, with Dubai timings where that list was checked. Those windows can be at night. Abhijit is never at night, because it is cut from the daytime. If a family asks for aaj ka muhurat, give them Abhijit for their city, and say what it is for.
How a day becomes a vivah muhurat
A panchang marks a wedding day when several conditions overlap: a marriage nakshatra such as Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada or Revati; a tithi that is not Amavasya or a rikta tithi; and a season that is not Chaturmas or Kharmas. The window then avoids the inauspicious parts of that day. That is why a date has a start and an end, not twenty-four open hours.

Aaj ka saadharan din-ka muhurat Abhijit hota hai, jo local sunrise aur sunset ke beech dopahar ke aas-paas padta hai. Shehar badalne se samay badalta hai. What is panchang?
Panchang means five limbs: tithi, vaar, nakshatra, yoga and karana. Together they describe the Moon and the Sun for a place and a date. Indian almanacs also print sunrise, sunset and Rahu Kaal beside them. KismatAstro's panchang page calculates those five limbs at local sunrise for the city you pick, using the built-in Lahiri ephemeris.
Which panchang is most accurate?
No public panchang is perfect at every rashi boundary, because ayanamsa and the exact moon theory differ by small amounts. For Indian festival names and wedding lists, Drik Panchang (New Delhi) is the reference this site cites. For a personal sunrise tithi, use your own city. If two almanacs disagree by a tithi near a changeover, the Moon was close to a boundary. Check the end time, not only the name.
How to read panchang?
Start with the place and the date. Read vaar, the weekday, then tithi and paksha, then the nakshatra at sunrise. Yoga and karana are the other two limbs. Note sunrise and sunset, because muhurat windows hang off them. A tithi that changes just after sunrise still gives its sunrise name to that panchang day. That is why a festival date and a sunrise label sometimes need a second look.
