Why the two systems disagree
The Pythagorean table is positional: A starts at 1 and the values cycle 1 to 9 through the alphabet. The Chaldean table is phonetic, letters are grouped by the sound and vibration attributed to them in the old Chaldean tradition, which is why F sits at 8 and O at 7. Because the tables differ, the same name usually gives a different number in each system; neither is wrong, they simply answer different questions.

Why does Chaldean have no 9?
In the Chaldean tradition 9 was considered sacred, so no letter is assigned to it. It still appears in results as a compound total or reduced root.
