How numerology (ank jyotish) reads numbers

Indian numerology, often called ank jyotish, links the numbers 1 to 9 with the nine planets: 1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn and 9 Mars. Any larger number is reduced by adding its digits until one digit remains. Your birth day gives the mulank (psychic number), your full date of birth (janam tarikh) gives the bhagyank (destiny number), and the letters of your name give the name number (naam ka ank).

These readings are light, reflective overviews. They describe tendencies people enjoy recognising in themselves, not fixed outcomes. Use them for fun, self reflection and conversation with family.

1. Write the number
2. Add all its digits
3. Keep adding until one digit is left
4. Read that digit's planet and nature
5. Compare it with your mulank for a friendly or neutral pairing
