North West Facing House Vastu

What a north west facing house means

A north west facing house is one whose main door opens towards the North West, the direction of Vayu and Moon (Chandra). Vastu reads this face for movement, friendships, guests and support. People search "north west facing house vastu" and "vayavya mukhi ghar" most when buying or renting, so this page brings the main layout rules together.

There is no bad facing in vastu. What matters more is where the door sits along the wall and how the rooms inside are placed. A north west facing house with a bright entrance, a south west bedroom and a south east kitchen is a classic, comfortable layout.

Room layout for a north west facing house

Here is the usual placement. Use it as a checklist, not a demand. If your home differs, the tips further down suggest simple adjustments.

• Main door: the middle of the wall, away from the corner
• Living room: North, East or North East
• Kitchen: South East
• Master bedroom: South West
• Pooja room: North East
• Children's room: West or North West
• Toilets: North West or West
• Staircase: South, West or South West

How to use these vastu tips calmly

Vastu shastra is the traditional Indian way of arranging a home so that light, air and daily activity flow comfortably. It links each of the eight directions and the centre with an element, a guardian deity and a planet. Most of its advice is practical common sense written in the language of the sky: morning light in the east, heavy things in the south west, an open centre and a clean entrance.

Nothing here needs demolition or expensive change. If a room is not in the ideal direction, families simply adjust what is inside: a lamp, a colour, the way a bed or desk faces, a plant, or a clear corner. Vastu works best as a gentle way to make a space feel lighter, not as a set of rules to worry about.

Rented flats, compact apartments and homes abroad all have limits. Use what you can, enjoy the space you have and treat the rest as optional reading.

1. Stand at the centre of the home with a phone compass
2. Mark north, then the eight directions on a simple floor sketch
3. Note which room sits in each direction
4. Pick two or three easy changes from this page
5. Keep the home clean, lit and airy, which matters most

North West facing house and your chart

Moon (Chandra) links this facing with astrology (jyotish). Families sometimes compare the facing with the owner's birth chart (janam kundli) or mulank for fun. It is a reflective layer only; a home's comfort comes from light, air and how you live in it.
